The Question

February 12th 2010

After putting the kids to bed, Chris and I were laying in our bed talking and relaxing. We had received a Valentines Day card in the mail from my mother that day and inside she mentioned that she hopes I get a wedding ring! So much of our conversation was about the card and how I’d have to call her and tell her that I didn’t get a ring. I wasn’t expecting one!

Chris pressed me on why I thought I wasn’t going to get an engagement ring on Valentines Day. I told him that getting a ring on Valentines Day was too “typical” and that it wasn’t a day that I thought he would ask me to marry him. After all, Chris made a huge point that morning about how Valentines day is a stupid holiday!

Later that night we decided to take the dogs outside. As soon as we stepped outside we were surprised by snow falling. Chris reached in his pocket and pulled out a ring pop – cherry. He handed it to me and asked if I would marry him, jokingly. I popped the ring pop into my mouth and laughed at him. I put the ring on my finger and said “of course.” I wrapped my arms around him and he started shaking. I asked him why he was shaking and he told me it was because he was cold. I tried to talk him into going back into the house so he could get warm but he wouldn’t go.

“I’m not shaking because I’m cold,” he told me. Then, he got down on one knee and pulled the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen out of his pocket. And he asked, “Will you marry me?” I fell to the ground crying! I was so surprised!

I was in shock – the proposal I’ve waited for was happening. The only thing I could do was cry. Chris finally said, “Does this mean yes?”
“Yes!” I screamed!!!! “Yes, yes, yes!!!”

A proposal in the snow! I couldn’t imagine it being more perfect then that!
